Well, what in the world happened to the result of my reply---
This is what dropped out:
Mahjong Horoki - (Mahjong Vagrant Life)
That role was the first to gain him critical acclaim. He won the Japanese version of an Oscar (his first, currently he has three, if memory serves me correctly)
This film was hard for me to find but cdjapan put out new copies earlier this year – no subtitles! But in a couple of the first scenes, he is playing the game with some Amercians so there is some English.
